Travel : The 10 things I miss about being back home.
Hellooo,
Today I decided to feel a lil homesick and so here I am writing the 10 things I miss about being back home! xP
-------
I guess for those of you who are just like me, I bet you can relate.
Anyways, just a quick side note - looking up pictures to share with you was such a difficult task , not only did it made me super hungry, it made me want to be back home even more now. Damn.
=D
Let's get started.
1. Food
You can't go wrong with home-cook food OR just any food from back home - I MISS IT all. The worst part is that, when you're overseas & they create something similar but it tastes COMPLETELY different. tsk tsk tsk and you'll be like 'that's not even close to the real thing'. xD
2. Family and Friends
This is a definite clear one. I miss seeing them, I miss being with them and just having to talk in the same language, do the same things or even talk about something you can relate to because they understand what they are talking about & just doing everything together instead of here, where its more independent living - is good enough.
3. Culture.
Not to forget how many festivities I've missed out on for years being here so yeah, I do miss the different cultures I have back home, the different food, festivals, events, and just seeing it all come together is pretty amazing.
4. Driving
For someone who loves driving, I have to survive on walking over here because it's expensive and my driving license doesn't allow me to drive here. So yes, I miss what driving brings to you - the freedom to roam & the privacy where it's just you and the open road.
5. Nightlife
Where I live back home, shops open till 10pm and some food stalls open 24 hours, nightlife was available. It was such a big difference when I had to adjust to shops closing at 5.30pm, and restaurants by 10pm and worst , sunday 10am- 4pm . It was hard at first, I got used to it but man, you can't beat just being able to go out , grab food at night with friends and talk the night away without worrying about opening times.
6. Shopping
The one thing I miss in terms of shopping wise, is the ability to shop IN A MALL. Over here, it's mainly on the streets and when it rains, it gets really really annoying. So I miss having everything in a mall, not to forget variety and also entertainment like bowling, cinema, ice skating rink - you name it, they've got it. And also opening hours till 10pm daily, you can't beat that.
7. Holidays (FESTIVE)
Because of so many culture there is back home, there is a lot of holidays to celebrate and it's nice growing up seeing different culture and religion celebrate their own festivities. It makes you see the world with an open eye. And everyone sort of accepts and comes together to celebrate too , it's a nice feeling.
8.Languages
When you live in a multi-cultural city, you speak tons of languages, and it's amazing how you pick these up along the way. Even the locals know your language and it all becomes a mesh up and thinking back to how it is back home, it really is funny the way we create our own 'slang'.
9.Family Traditions
Of course, I miss having 'dim sum' every Sunday, I miss the late night out drive to McD, I miss the tea time breaks, I miss family day on Sundays, I miss just going to the cinema with my friends and things like that - there's a lot to miss about back home and those are some of them.
10. Being home.
I think the most biggest thing that I miss about home besides my family & friends is just being in my home. I miss my dogs, I miss my house, I miss my room, I miss just sitting in the lounge watching TV, I miss lying on the cold marble, and etc. I just miss feeling at home. And I understand where I am now, I try to make it as comfortable as I can to how I like but it will never give the same feeling as how when I'm home does.
So those are the 10 things I miss about back home.
Don't get me wrong, I do love exploring the world but sometimes, it's just nice to be home.
In conjunction with this post,
I'd like to wish my home country back home,
Happy National Day.
