Self Help: 2017 Birthday Realizations

Goood Morning everyone,
Welcome back!

In relation to my birthday last month in August , I've decided to share a post with you all. I can't believe i'm turning another year older. Yeah, I still may be in my 20s but dang, I feel old! Those days of looking forward to birthday parties seem so long gone. Anyways, I decided in relation to it, I'd like to do a post about turning older - about realization & growing up. It's amazing what you can learn about yourself as you turn a year older so let's get into it.

First off, I must say - turning older, I can start to see my levels of motivation & inspiration starts going down - I become more serious & less time to have fun and etc which is why I'm here to take a step back & take control of myself once again.

I've got 3 strategies that can help you on a day to day basis to make sure you have full control of your life. =)

1.) Say more of 'I want to' more than 'I need to'.
Common cause of excuses and lack of motivation comes from the fact that we make ourselves feel like ' we need to 'do it rather than because we WANT to. So by changing our mentality to state 'I want to ' do something or 'I want to' feel a particular feeling, you instantly make a choice mentally to meet those expectations hence you'll be more willing to do them compared to feeling like you need to. For example , saying I want to be fit by going to the gym is more likely you'll do it compared to saying I need to go to the gym to be fit .

2.)Reduce expectations but never settle for less than what you wanted.
Life isn't easy in the sense of giving what you want. Most of the time, you have to go out there & fight for it. With that being said, it's not impossible to get what you want so instead of dreaming of it, my advice to you is to get up & do it instead. I've done this mistake where I've expected more from people than what I actually got - it makes me feel dissapointed and at the same time, it's a wake up call because that's when you know the true relationship & how it has been affected. So instead of hoping & wishing away any problems you have, just get up - find a way to solve it & do it.

3.) Never live to please anyone but yourself.
Easier said than done. I've realized over the past few years, making friends is hard & the moment you have a friend - you become latch on them. Same goes with relationships and etc. In addition to that, we become dependent of them that without them, life seems empty & hard when in reality, you've just forgot that you're capable on your own too & how anyone who comes into your life is an extra blessing to add into your life. I'm not saying to go live selfishly but more on the lines of don't forget your own happiness matters to.

With that, those are my 3 reminders that I've realized & learn as I age a year older =)
I hope it helped inspire you to give life a chance & have a different perspective towards it.

With that,
take care & I shall see you in my next one,
G.
