Travel : Cheltenham & Cotswold
Hey everyone,
Welcome back!
Today I'm gonna tell you all about my Cotswold trip. =D It's a weekend trip , away to the Cotswold. We decided to stay in Cheltenham which is the biggest town in the Cotswold region.
Let me tell you about Cotswold in general & why it's so well known. It's famous for it's historic villages & English heritage. Most of the villages have preserved their buildings from the old times & each have a special touch to them. So if you're into nature/ architecture / history, this is the place for you to getaway.
With a little bit of insight to Cotswold, our aim of this trip was to explore Cotswold as much as we can & at the same time, make it a nice romantic getaway. So let me show our little place for the weekend.
We booked it through airBnB . If you like to be redirected to the site itself, click here . It's not only affordable for a quick weekend trip, the place was AMAZING . Yes parking was a bit tight because it only fit one car and if you have a large 4 wheel car, it wouldn't fit. The biggest it would go is probably a ford focus. That's the only downside to it. Everything else was perfect. You have a small kitchen for light meals , a refrigerator , a cute lounge area , a small cozy bedroom & a huge shower in the bathroom. Overall , it was an amazing stay & we would definitely love to go back there.
So if you're heading to Cheltenham , I'd definitely recommend that place to stay! =) In terms of things to do, there isn't much TBH. We ended up walking around town - did some shopping and had a relaxing afternoon . Oooo we also stumbled onto this cute cafe on Montpellier called Montpellier Cafe .
Btw, Montpellier is a district in Cheltenham that's filled with rich people & expensive houses so be prepared to feel royal when you shop or eat around here.
Anyways, we stumbled onto this cafe for breakfast for the day & we love it!
What a great start to the day! Then we continued on shopping around town & went to Pittville Park which is about 10 minutes walk away from the high street to explore and hang out.
The park was huge, and thankfully the weather was nice too - we ended up just seating on a bench by the lake , talking & just enjoying our time . In terms of dinner, there's this really cute Mexican place called Paparritos , which basically is a mexican fast food restaurant. If you want something quick & delicious - go for this!
We spend the rest of the evening just walking around town & having an early night.
---------------------
Day 2 of our little trip - we checked out our place and had breakfast at this cafe about 5 minutes from where we stayed - The Swallow Bakery . They do really lush cakes & breakfast if you're in for a treat. Definitely recommend =)
After a nice breakfast, we headed off to explore what's outside of Cheltenham. We hit two places, one was the Lavendar farm in Snowshill which is about 20-30 minutes drive away. The weather wasn't too bad so we visited it and if you haven't been to a full-blown Lavender farm before, this is your CHANCE! Entrance was 3.50 per person for as long as you want so for all you who love taking those blog shots -you need to come here.
It was amazing - you get a real whiff over the scent of Lavender in the air, really calming & relaxing. =) Look out for bees though, because they're there to share it with you too. ;)
After that, we headed off to Bourton-on-the-water which is known to be the Venice of the Cotswold. Again, if the weather is nice - its a MUST SEE. It's such a breathtaking village, very cute & has loads of canal through hence known as 'Venice' of Cotswold.
We spend our afternoon there before heading back home. Overall, it was such a nice relaxing trip.
Definitely would love to explore the rest of Cotswold & what it has to offer.
If you have any recommendations of places to go during the weekend as a staycation? Let me know:)
Other than that, I hope you enjoyed reading about my Cotswold trip .
To many more trips to come,
G .
