Self Help : How to practice self love?
Hey everyone,
Welcome back!
I know it's been a while since I've last posted a new post, I've been busy & loads has been happening around me but I want you to know that I'm going to try to fit in more post each week to try get back into routine. So please bear with me.
With that, let's move on to today's post ~
With everything that's going on, in my life - for example work has been pretty stressful lately, with finding time to maintain relationships and also stay in touch with my family - it's all become a very hard task for me to manage , let alone my health habits like diet & exercise isn't going too well either tbh, so I decided to take a break.
And in that break, I told myself to focus on what's important to me which is my happiness, my needs & what makes me mentally happy before I begin making big changes in my life. So while I was going through all that , I noticed the one thing I had to do was to LOVE myself.
It's easy to say but I did not realize how much I was NOT taking care of myself which is why it resulted me feeling down, tired, unmotivated & sad. I tried many different ways to cheer me up , such as :
x Retail therapy [it usually works!]
x Talking & sharing it out [Hit/miss]
x Finding inspiration online from social media [Helps a little bit but it does not affect me long term]
x Writing a journal [Too many things to write that I don't want to]
x Exercise / sports [ End up giving a lot of excuses to not do it]
x Relaxing pamper routine [ Couldn't fully relax ]
x Watching my favourite shows/movies [Short term relief/distraction]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So after trying all these ways, nothing still stick - nothing did worked to made me feel better & gain back my energy to feel motivated every day, so I started to think .. dig deep down inside me to find the core problem & solve it.
I realized , it was because of numerous things:
a) Judgemental to myself
b) Too insecure about my problems
c) Overthinking
d) Thinking negative
So what I did was literally CUT back. I cut out any influence or pressure from the outside world and focus on my mental health importance. I wanted to feel calmness & peace in my mind and that's exactly the one thing I held on too.
I did everything I could to help me. I started bit by bit and worked my way through this list below:
a) Clean & organize my room
b) Make my room my sanctuary
c) Clean out my diet
d) Get outside more with exercise
e) Do what feels good for my soul
f) Read more
g) Be more grateful & practice more kindness
h) Learn to love myself more.
So those are the things that slowly lead me back to path I want my life to be in. And yes, it takes a while - I can't say how long it'll take for you to get there but all I can say is, if you don't do something , you're likely to remain the same as you are today and as you were yesterday.
In conclusion, I hope this pretty long post helped you feel much more connected and know that you're not alone despite how you feel right now.
I wish you all the best and last piece of advice,
it's never too late.
Lots of love,
G.
