Paris : First Timers

Hey everyone,
Welcome back!

I'm back! I've been off for a few weeks to take some time off to plan & to detox myself from the blogging world but I'm back to my usual routine and I've got brand new posts coming up every Wednesday so keep your eyes open for more new content.

With that being said, I recently went to Paris. I had an amazing time there & I got loads to share with you. This post is going to be about being in Paris for the first time. This is my 3rd trip to Paris so if you're going to Paris for the first time , I've got some great places to recommend to you & things to look out for!

Let's begin!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Essential things to remember for your trip to Paris :
a) Find a place to keep your travel documents save
b) Don't bring out things you don't need (keep it light as possible)
c) Keep a watch out for pick pockets or people that approach you asking if you speak any particular language - look out for conman
d) If you aren't sure of something in French, don't be shy to ask in English
e) Meals cost about 15 euros each approx for a cafe/restaurant - as a rough estimate for your budget
f) Book your attraction tickets online or beforehand - to skip the line.
g)Dress according to the weather
h)Don't overdo all the attractions in ONE day - take your time
i) Just like any big city, always keep your eyes open & be street smart.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that we have the basics out of the way, let's begin the trip! If you haven't been to Paris before, it's a wonderful city - city of romance & all things love. However, for me I would say, don't over expect too much from it and just take it openly with a pinch of salt.
I dont want to spoil your trip so I'll leave some things as a surprise so with that, let's get on ahead with the tourist attractions YOU MUST NOT MISS!
1.) The Lourve
One of the best museums in the world and one of the largest too! I spend a good 4 hour period in there listening to the audioguide (which is a must!) about the background of the paintings and structure. Besides that, you've loads of beautiful rooms to look at where the paintings are displayed so overall, you can't miss this during your trip there! Not to forget, the outside of the Lourve consist of this massive area filled with a palace,gardens & the pyramid - perfect for a photograph.
2.) Arc De Triumphe
One of the craziest roads to drive at a roundabout but at the same time, it's one of the prettiest roundabouts I've ever seen. In the centerpiece lies the Arc De Triumphe which is a proud memorial for the locals that represents the people who fought in the war & lost their lives in Paris . You can pay tickets to go up the tower and have a view of the city as well so if you're interested in that, that's another thing to do here!
3.) Sacre Cour
Another thing you can't miss - which is located north of Paris is the majestic Sacre Cour . It's a basilica that is located right at the top of the hill in Montmarte district . It overlooks a wondeful view of the city so definitely a must see. However, in order to get up the hill , there's two ways - you can either walk up or take a 'mini-train' that costs about 4.50 euro one way that tours around the neighborhood and ends up at Sacre Cour. Once you're up there, you can see the insides of the church and also enjoy the view .
4.) Eiffel Tower
Ofc the main thing to see is the Eiffel Tower which you can see by either metro stations (Champ De Mars Tour Eiffel which takes you to the back of the tower based on this picture above OR Trocadero which takes you to this side of the Eiffel Tower) . Nevertheless, the grounds around it is just as amazing to walk around & experience seeing it live in front of you. Nothing beats that! The Eiffel Tower is best seen obviously when the weather is good so make sure you check the forecast beforehand.
5.) Notre Dame.
Last but not least, we have Notre Dame which seats on it's own island itself by the Seine River. Again it's one of those structures that you have to see it to believe it. It's THAT good! Try to go in the evening so that way you avoid the crowds & it's not too hot to walk around the square. There's loads of space to take your perfect shot so don't rush & take your time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's the main things you have to see during your trip to Paris.
I've got another post coming up soon about the Not-So-Usual things to do & see in Paris.
So if you're interested in that, please keep a look out for it!
With that,
I hope you have an enjoyable trip to Paris,
Take care & Enjoy,
G.
