Travel to: Split, Croatia 2019
Hi everyone, welcome back! It's been a while. Well a good 9 months break shall we say from blogging. To be honest, I lost my blogging mojo which was why I did not blog for such a long time. The effort it takes to plan a blogpost, get the right pictures, edit them, write the post & make sure it's posted and share it appropriately, was taking up too much of my time on top of my full time job that I do daily so I do apologize for being MIA for so long.
BUT I AM BACK.๐
I would like to get back into blogging as I realize I've missed letting my creative juices flow every once in a while. So I may not post very often for now, but I will keep you updated on my socials when I do. =)
--------------------------------------------------------------
As for today, let's start with a lovely post about my first time to Croatia ๐
We were there for 4 days and we decided to just explore Split instead of visiting Dubrovnik. We decided to visit somewhere less 'touristy'. We stayed at this place called Residence Alba and we booked it through Booking.com. It's a lovely apartment run by a family who lives in the residence itself. It's really homely & private at the same time. Have a look at the site & you'll see what I mean. ๐
With that aside, let's get on with what we were up to, there. I'll summaries what we did there & will also include some tips if you're travelling there soon. Enjoy ~

Took us about 2 hours to climb up. We were breathless by the end of it but it was worth the effort & steps.
✔️ Random lane in Old Split

✔️Hvar's Harbour Promenade
✔️Walking along the coast from the Port of Hvar to the Pokonji Dol Beach
✔️ Took us an hour to hike to get to this beach (Pokonji Dol)๐ซ and more stairs to climb after Marjan Hill the day before, our legs were aching. View was worth it.
✔️We made it. Slice of paradise = Pokonji Dol Beach. YESSS๐
✔️My first time swimming in the sea where the waters are cold. Refreshing experience especially on a hot sunny day๐♀️ ๐
So yes, these are some of the best moments on our trip. The rest of it was left relaxing in the hotel's lounge on the rooftop cause we were knackered. For a short 4 day trip, it was quite a jam packed schedule but it was all worth it.
Now for some tips if you're going to Split for the first time.
Hints & Tips
๐ท️Travel light if you can.
๐ Make sure you bring some walking shoes, as it's a coastal city, it is hilly. Similar to Lisbon,Portugal
๐If you can avoid taking taxis, do it. Use Uber instead, it's much cheaper & convenient.
๐ณ Most places uses card except for small establishments, renting sunbeds at beaches etc.
๐ณMost purchases will be in Kuna (local currency) except for tourist excursions via tourist agencies will be in Euros. Do your research online for excursions.
๐ฐTipping is not necessary and watch out for restaurants as some charge you for bread without informing you.
๐Most people in Split, speaks English so don't worry if you don't know the local language.
๐ฆTheir local dish = Squid Ink Risotto. MUST TRY!
๐ฆAlthough seafood is really fresh in Split, but it can be quite pricey.
๐If you love pizza, most restaurants will either be a pizzeria or a seafood restaurant. Not much choice so I suggest having a plan on where & what to eat beforehand.
๐️There are some wonderful national parks near Split but they are at least 2-3 hours by car, hence why we did not go this time round but if you have time, the pictures look amazing.
๐ฐTap water is drinkable. Not necessary to buy bottled water unless you prefer it.
๐️Trogir is a nearby town, 45 minutes by bus that's really pretty too if you have time to visit. It's almost similar to a mini-Split.
๐️Most of the beaches we've seen on this trip has been pebbled beach, so bring water shoes because they will be a lifesaver to you or if not, do your research to find some hidden sandy beaches around Split/Hvar.
๐️Make it a day trip to visit the islands nearby. You've got plenty of choices - Hvar or Brac which you can visit using a quick catamaran / car ferry. You can buy the tickets on the day itself by the Port. It's slightly pricey but you won't be dissapointed.
