Beauty: June 2024 Favourites

Hi, welcome back to another post! Let's reflect on June make up favourites. It's supposed to be summer but June's weather was like spring. Most days was raining, maybe the occasional day where there was sunshine.
I have not been using as much make up as I normally do however June was special because it was the month I got married too! I had a lot of time to spend with my family and loved ones and we all had a blast. When I could, these were the make up items I ended up using.

Eyeshadow Palette of the monthHuda Beauty Mercury Retrograde Palette

I bought this palette 2 years ago and I'm still loving the colour story and formula. Each time I use it, I get a different look and it's the only palette in my collection where I have bright/pastel shades so it's perfect for the summer time or when the sun is out.

It helps to elevate my usual neutral eye look and gives me inspiration to try something new. I think it is on the verge of being discontinued because it's from 2019 but if you can get your hands on it, it's definitely worth getting.

I mean the formula is great, the shimmer/metallic shadows are on point. Colour story and aesthetic of the palette is so pretty. Whether you're a neutral lover or into vibrant eyeshadow looks, this palette is so versatile.

Blusher of the month: Colourpop Supershock Blush in Between The Sheets

It's too bad that I couldn't find this shade on their website anymore, it's been a staple - an OG blush long time ago. The supershock blushes are popular for their bouncy, matte and long lasting feature. There were the OG before the Mac Go Play Blushes came along. It's like a putty texture but it blends easily and lasts all day.

There are still a few different shades available on their website, this shade in particular is a perfect everyday blush for me. It's not too pink or too orange so it gives me the right amount of flush on my cheeks. Only thing I will say is that, because it's a bouncy putty-like texture, you have to use a stipple make up brush to pick up the product.

It can be build up and layered on with other blushes as well, which is why it's such a flexible product. I understand and get why this went viral when it came out.

Lipstick of the month: Elf Sheer Slick Lipstick in Dragonfruit

Another product that seems to be unavailable now *apologies for this*. I have a few these lipsticks in my collection, I like how light they are and how they give a nice wash of colour to your lips. It can be built up to create an opaque layer but I tend to wear them as a light wash of colour.

I have Dragonfruit, Black Cherry, and Cherry Slush. Dragonfruit is actually my 2nd purchase, my first was Cherry Slush. I liked how versatile it is that I decided to get more shades. The finish is like a hydrating satin look.  It's very moisturising and it fades away smoothly. It does not last very long so you have to reapply often but if you're looking for something more opaque than a tinted lip balm, then this is worth the try.

Lip gloss of the monthNyx Butter Gloss in Angel Food Cake

This came out long time ago and I remember how Nyx glosses were the 'THING TO GET' because of their smooth, moisturising formula. It was one of the first in the market to give you this tinted glossy look.

I have Angel Food Cake and Tiramisu in my collection. Today, there are definitely better glosses in my collection so I am trying to use these up. I like to put them on top of my lipstick to give me a different shade on my lips or wear it on its own.

Comparing to other gloss formulas, I find this quite patchy (especially those more opaque shades) and slightly sticky which is why I don't use them as often. For this month, I was reaching for this because it was 2 in 1. I tend to wear this on its own because I've been doing my make up in a hurry each time, so it's a great 'grab and go' kind of product. It's a small tube so I carry it with me to top it up.

Overall, I would say, if you have these glosses in your collection, use them up. However, I don't know if I would want to try more shades. I feel like it's getting to the stage where it's becoming one of the 'older type of gloss formulas'.

Single eyeshadow of the month: Colourpop Supershock in Set To Stun

Looking at the shade on the website, it looks much more pink there than in person. The formula is more of a glitter topper shade so it's not very opaque. I use it on top of any matte shade to give it the extra shine. It has superfine glitter that does not irritate my eyes. It's a mixture of pink and silver shimmer so if whether you're doing a cool tone or warm tone look, it's an easy eyeshadow if you want to add on that extra sparkle.

I have multiple Colourpop Supershock Eyeshadows in my collection, I must say the formula do vary across the range so worth looking at swatches online before you buy them. Some of them are full on metallic shades, some are matte and the rest are glitter topper. They give this wet shine look so it can be used as add on eyeshadow topper or as a one and done eyeshadow look.

Some lasts longer than others as well, so if you were to get them, I would recommend getting 1 or 2 staple shades to use rather than have a big collection of them as some do dry out if not used within a set time. Otherwise, it's a great topper shade or if you would like a quick one and done shadow.

These are my June favourites, I hope you enjoy reading my post and seeing some of these products who to be honest aren't new but I am glad they are still making an impact on my everyday make up style. It makes me cherish my collection much more.

Hope to see you in my next post,
G.
