Beauty: May 2024 Favourites

Hi, welcome back!

Let's discuss about makeup today. I've been getting back into make up again lately and been going through my collection and doing a 'shop my stash' style outlook at it. Over the years, I've collected a lot of make up so it's about time I make some progress with them.

What's left in my collection now are products that excites me every time I see it, touch it and use it so I'm pleased with what I have. If you know me, I feel in love with eyeshadow palettes in 2014 and ever since then, I've been growing my collection.

Today, I can safely say I still enjoy eyeshadow palettes but I also enjoy my blushes and lip products. Here are my favourites in the month of May 24.

Disclaimer: You may notice some of my make up products are from a few years back and because they are! I've been on a low buy for the last 1 year so I'm trying to reduce my spending on make up unless I need something new. I have linked all of the products for my own future reference but it's also to show you exactly what I have and where to get it from. These links are not affiliated whatsoever, it's merely a point for referencing purposes. Yes, I'm blogging like its 2014, just nhappy to be able to share my findings!

The theme of this month was Spring colours. I enjoyed using my Too Faced Cinnamon Swirl Palette and Huda Beauty Nude Light Obsessions Palette to achieve this. These came out around 2 years ago and I've been using these palettes, whenever I want something light and shimmery.

You can't go wrong with the shimmer/sparkly shades in the Huda Beauty palette - they are almost like a glitter topper style of eyeshadow, so it can enhance any eyeshadow look by giving it that extra pop of glitter. As for the Too Faced palette, the shimmery shades are more metallic so I tend to use them on my eyelid on top of a matte shade so give me that extra oomph.

Both eyeshadow palettes have smooth, easy to blend formula. I could create a simple spring look to a bronze smoky eye look easily. With these range of colours, it enhanced my dark brown eyes perfectly.

Not to forget the packaging - the tin packaging from Too Faced - classic yet stylish, which is why people love collecting them. For Huda Beauty, these Nude Obsessions line is still a must buy even after 2 years because of the colour story and formula.

Whether you're an amateur when it comes to make up or a professional, these are everyday colours that you can use for any occasion.

These lip colours and formula are so different from one another but they are all fabulous. The Colourpop Blotted Lip formula was one of its kind. Not only is it light to carry with you everywhere you go, the formula gives you this, light velvet matte look aka the 'blotted look' and this allows you to control how opaque you want your lips to look.

Some days, I wanted a nice sheer wash of colour and some days, I want the full velvet matte look. It stayed on for a good few hours too which is why I find it so versatile. The range of colours available as well are amazing. There's a shade for everyone.

The Elf Lip Plumping Gloss, well this is one of the best thick-but-not-sticky gloss that can be worn on its own. It coats the lips perfectly and gives you this comfortable feel and juicy colour on your lips. This shade, Mocha Twist is my 2nd purchase for this range. I've tried Praline previously and that got me hooked!

The applicator is a good size and the formula fades really well as the day goes on. In terms of the 'plumping effect', it gives you this cool sensation on your lips without any tingle which isn't too bad. Definitely recommend if you have not tried this formula yet.

The next lip staple is the Glossier Ultralip range. I've not tried a lot of the other colours but I can say Villa is definitely the standout for me. It's the perfect my-lips-but-better shade. It melts onto your lips really well and it gives this glossy shine. In terms of staying power, it's not great but if you want a lip stick-gloss hybrid lip colour, this formula is perfect for that. I can safely rely on this colour if I can't decide what lip product to choose. I will definitely repurchase this shade when I run out.

Last but not least, the Revlon Super Lustrous Glass Shine Lipstick. This was a random find. I stumbled upon this product because I was looking for a dupe of the Clinique Black Honey. I instantly fell in love with this shade and formula from the first use. I would say it's definitely glossy, non sticky and light on your lips. It can be applied sheer to start with, and you can definitely build it up. It's quite slippery on your lips so don't expect it to last all day. This shade in particular is the only one that caught my eye, it's a brown tone shade but it gives a nice brown-berry tone shade on my lips. I'm gutted that it's slowly being discontinued from the look of things, so I might get another one as a back up before it disappears =)

For the blush favourite of this month - it has got to be the Mac Glow Play Blush in Heat Index. After seeing people on social media showing how bouncy this formula is by squishing their finger into a brand new blush, I was keen to get my hands on it.

On top of that, the formula gives you this fresh and youthful flush on your cheeks. I decided to go with the shade, Heat Index because I wanted that vibrant pink look which I was missing from my collection. I must say, it's as great as it looks and what people say because it lasts all day, easy to blend and it's vibrant so a little goes a long way! You can either opt for a sheer blush look or as vibrant as Sabrina Carpenter's blush look.

I'm thinking of getting another shade and it looks like they've expanded their range so I'm going to save up and potentially get another shade when it goes on sale again!

If you have tried any of these products, let me know your thoughts or what else you would recommend because I would love to know if there are similar or better products out there that fits into my make up style. I hope you enjoyed this post and have a wonderful day!

See you in my next one,
G
