Beauty: October 2024 Favourites

Welcome back, I'm back with another favourite beauty post, and this time it's about my October beauty favourites.

This month, for the sake of Halloween, I've been using more grungy colours with my eyeshadow looks. Even with blush/lipstick choices, I'm reaching for more darker nude shades.

I find it so interesting how my make up style changes dramatically from season to the next. It's time to bring out my duo chromes, cool tone metallic shades, and smoky colours to create a well fitted seasonal look.

For the base, I'm still using my Revolution Mattify Primer to give me a hydrated matte base. It's a silicon primer so it smooths out my pores at the same time. I've been using this primer for a good 8 months and to be honest, it's not a bad primer considering its £6.99 and it has lasted me this long. It does not cause my make up to peel like some other mattifying primers can do.

Would definitely reconsider purchasing it again if needed or trying another type of primer from their range.

The foundation I've been using a lot this month is the Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint. They marketed it as a skin tint but for me, it's a light-medium foundation that gives you a glow. To be fair, I don't see this as a skin tint because I find it quite thick for a skin tint. When you squirt it out of the bottle, it's almost like a creamy gel texture rather than a runny liquid which is why, I class it more of a light to medium coverage foundation over a skin tint.

Nevertheless, having the right shade for me makes this product a stand out product this month. Now that the weather is colder and my skin is drier, this gives my skin the 'hydrated look'. During summer, I do avoid using this because it slips off my face and makes me look oily. That's how much glow it gives.

For the cooler months - it is wonderful! Packaging is sleek and it's a squeeze tube -very easy to use.

For my favourite blushes of this month, I went with a more nude choice and a glowy blush - Essence Blush in Bespoke and Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso. Unfortunately, Wilko no longer exists on the high street but that used to be my go-to place for Essence products. Now, it's a lot harder to find.

Nevertheless, I remember these Essence Blush used to be hyped up so much and to be fair, they are good! They are affordable, pigmented, have different shades for everyone and easy to blend. It's a matte blush so it's very versatile.

Only downside to Essence make up is the plastic packaging, it's very brittle and 9 times out of 10, the packaging breaks before you finish the product. Otherwise, I love their mascaras, highlighters, blushes and even their matte powders! Definitely an underrated brand in the UK.

The shade, Bespoke is a warm tone brown shade for me, so I tend to layer this with other blushes in my collection. For this weather, it's the perfect time to give me that flushed look - especially when I use it alongside Milani Luminoso blush.

What a staple! This Milani blush is my first Milani blush I bought YEARS ago and it's still going strong. I still love it and I use it all year round. Perfect shade, gives a lovely glow and long lasting - what more do you want in a blush!?.  😍

I've had a look at the other colours in the range, they are meh - that's my only downside about the Milani Baked Blushes.

For lip products, I've got three this month and I like to vary my lip products based on my look for the day. The most used this month is Tarte Sugar Rush Sugar Coat Velvet Lipstick in Cupcake. It has such a long name but it's one of a kind. I love it for it's velvet texture, giving me this blurred lip look without feeling too thick on my lips.

This shade in Cupcake is the only shade I find, I can pull it off because it's a mid tone nude shade and it's almost the same colour as my natural lip colour. I put this on whenever I can't decide on a particular lipstick to wear on that day and it never fails me. I'm almost running out and I will definitely repurchase this shade. It's not drying and it bleeds off your lips naturally too. Yes, it may not be kiss-proof or long lasting but I'm happy to reapply it over and over again 😀

Next up, Colourpop Ultra Blotted Lip in Still An Icon. It's one of their popular shades and in their new packaging. Similar to Tarte Sugar Coat Velvet Lipstick but this feels more opaque, is buildable and has a slightly thicker texture.

You can achieve the light blurred look but blotting your lips after application but otherwise, it has a longer staying power and does not make cause your lips to dry out. Another great formula and shade!

For lip gloss, Colourpop Lux Gloss in Figgy With It is something I've been using to finish it up. Unfortunately, it has been discontinued by Colourpop. It's a rich gloss that's slightly sticky and goopy but it leaves  your lips hydrated so there's some positives to it.

This shade is a muted cool tone pink which is great for cool tone looks, it's not so opaque that it changes your lipstick shade upon application so it's a nice way of adding some shine to your lip look. I don't know if Colourpop will revamp and bring this range back, their glosses tend to be high shine so I would advise to watch their site for new launches.

As for my eyeshadow palettes that I've used most this month, it's the Elf 18 Hit Wonders Eyeshadow Palette. I remember when this range came out and it was sold out everywhere. Now, I'm loving it as a complementary palette to the other eyeshadow palettes I have. I tend to use one or two shades each time  depending on the eye look. The metallic shades are divine - such as the shade, Element 💓. I don't really use the matte shades as much as you can see but since I already have this palette, I'm keen to use up the metallic/shimmer shades until it runs out.

The matte shades aren't bad, they are buildable and slightly powdery but if you use an eyeshadow primer, it will stay on and be as vibrant as how it looks in the palette.

The other eyeshadow palette, I'm using is the Colourpop Gather Round Sisters Palette. Mine is super dirty so apologies for that, that's my one and only downside about this packaging. There's a lot of powder kick back when I use this palette so it makes it look super dirty with each use and it seems to stain the packaging 😟.

Other than that, I love the colour story and the grungy-ness of the shades. Perfect for this time of year, and it's definitely on theme with the Hocus Pocus franchise. There is one glitter shade called, Brew Potion on the top row that I don't use but other than that, I have used each shade to create a smoky eye.

There's a lot of Colourpop this time round. I would say Colourpop makes up 40% of my collection and it's because they are affordable and good quality products. When I do order them, I have to ensure it's above $60 to qualify for free international shipping, this is why I wait and order all in one go. By the way, none of these links on my page are affliated links. I just want to reference them to where you can buy these products - mainly for record keeping 😊

Thanks for reading.
See you in my next one,
G.
